I'd also love to know how this compares to the Singlepower amps like the Supra or especially the Maestro.

I'd love to experiment with the 5751's for the signal tube that make the MG Head sing. My GB Sylvania 5751 would look nice sitting in the center of this amp.

I'm off to Vegas in two days for New Years -- if I win some cash maybe I'll grab one of these beauties. Or, on the other hand there may be some things for sale when I get back if my luck turns against me...

LOL, last time I was in Las Vegas for new years, there wasn't any ceremony or anything. No clock, no fire works, nothing. Just a huuuuuuge sea of people screaming, drinking, and hanging from street signs and traffic signals.

Good luck, dd3mon.

Hope you win enough to buy the Emmi II Stealth.

It's not that big...I'd guess it's 10" accross the front X 6" high (both pieces) X 5" deep...or there abouts.

Head-fi price I was given was $1395 Jan 1 -14th. I am very, tempted. I think for a few extra bucks I will go for a used Cary.

Ray's Mall-Fi Post

Here is Ray's Post in the Mall-Fi Forum for those who haven't seen it.

Yup. it will be $1395. + shipping for Head-Fi'ers through Jan 14th, with delivery beginning late Jan through Feb.

I am #14 on the list

For you guys on the list. Are you planning on using the Stealth as a preamp or strictly a headphone amp? If you are going the preamp route, what amps will you use?
lextek: I will at least give the Stealth a try as a preamp. It will be pushing my Acurus (Mondial Designs) A200 power amp.
Another Acurus owner. I have the A100 I use for the second zone with my B&K stuff. Quality amps.
I will be using it as a preamp with my modified Adcom 535II.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the info on the Stealth. I have laid in a new source (Cary 303/200) for the new year, and will soon bring in an HD-650 for a head to head comparo with my 600's. I would like to upgrade my amp as well. I currently have a Microzotl, and used to have an Earmax Pro, too, so I'm pretty sure I'm a tube guy. I've been thinking about the Singlepower Supra, considering a Unison Research Unico (tube/SS hybrid) integrated amp w/ an ASL U.H.C. Signature device for headphone output, and have been awaiting more info on the Stealth.

So, a few questions, and please bear in mind that although I've owned a couple of tube amps, I have no clue about electronics.

Clearly the Stealth is built like a brick you-know-what, and attractively styled too, IMO. All the parts appear to be first-rate, and the separate power supply seems like a big plus to me. I like that it's a preamp that will accomodate 4 sources (altho I'd love a REC OUT as I still copy vinyl to CD onto an audio CD recorder—would the LINE OUT jacks be the same thing?). Is the tube complement of the Stealth similar to the EMP? If so, will it sound similar to the EMP, only "better," because it is better built?

I love the transparency of the Microzotl, but I'm looking for a sound with more drive, more guts, without losing that transparency or detail. I'd like to buy my last headphone amp and spend more time listening and less time reading these posts worrying about what I'm missing or searching for the next big thing.

Lextek, I believe I heard your Ray Samuels amp at the CT Amptoberfest and was unimpressed, but I'm pretty sure I'm not a transistor guy anymore. Guys and gals, is there anything inherent in the design, materials or anything else about the Stealth that suggests that it's the amp I'm looking for? Is there enough info available to recommend it over the Supra, say? Or is it just a question of whether you prefer a Lexus or a BMW? Those who have heard the Stealth are especially invited to reply. Sincere thanks.

dave-the-rave,
I don't think anyone has reported in depth on the finished Stealth yet. tuberoller has one, and promised to post some impressions soon, and those will likely be the first real comments we'll have on its sound.

Tubes in the Stealth are more like tubes in the ZOTL, you can use the same input tube (12AT7) and the same output tubes (6SN7). I'd be very surprised if it sounded much like the EMP or the ZOTL for that matter given the designs are so different in all other aspects besides using tubes.

Stealth line out

There are two sets of line out jacks on the Stealth. These are meant to connect to power amps. I would like to run a line out into an audio CD recorder. Would one set of the line out jacks serve this purpose? But the level of the line out is controlled by the volume control on the Stealth, isn't it?

Anyone??
