Hello everyone,
My EE is a little fuzzy, so I've got a question for you all. I recently picked up a Musical Fidelity V-DAC, and purchased a Pyramid PS3KX 12-volt power supply as a replacement for the wall-wart supply provided with it. However, I realized I could also use it as a replacement for a TC-750 phono pre-amp which has picked up a wicked hum due to its own power supply, and would like to have both hooked up so as not to have to switch the plug every time I want to change sources. Both devices have a 500mA draw and the power supply is rated at 2.5-Amp, so power isn't an issue.
What I'm wondering is this; if I want to have both devices plugged in, should I do it in series - have the negative end of Wire A (supplying the DAC) hooked up to the anode of the power supply, the positive end of Wire A hooked up to the negative end of Wire B (supplying the pre-amp), and the positive end of Wire B hooked up to the cathode - or whether its OK to have both wires in direct contact with the anode and cathode. Essentially, whether I need to hook up the wires in series or in parallel.
Any help here would be appreciated. I think making a mistake would at worst cause the power supply's fuse to break, but I don't want to take any chances. If I can clarify the situation at all, let me know.
Thanks,
Simon
