Getting my ha-160d to work in windows

Hi there,

So I just got my ha-160d today, I listened to it at lenehan audio and man i was impressed! Not only did it sound great driving my hd650's but it also works well as a standalone DAC.

But I've taken it home and I've got no idea as to how to set it up to work with windows. I used it on my brothers laptop and it worked fine (we both have windows 7) with my hd650's. But on my computer the device doesn't come up in the 'Sound, Playback' but it did on his automatically,  I can view mine in the 'devices and printers' in the control panel with a yellow troubleshooting icon next to it.

The other problem was when I tried hooking the 160d up to my brothers nad c325bee and wharfedale 9.1's (they worked fine when using the ps1 with them) to use as a standalone dac (using the pre out on the 160d into the main in on the c325bee) was that it had heaps of static coming through both channels. My brothers gf accidently bumped the power cord going into the 160d and then the audio was clear, but only coming through one speaker??? :S I suspect it may have something to do with the nad, perhaps the power cord too because the one that came with it was american so i had to use the one for my computer. I guess though that this last problem shouldnt be in this forum but oh well.

The Burson's using a USB chip that doesn't require drivers to be installed, it should be PNP. Check your cables, system drivers and connections?

Yeah it should be plug and play or in case you can plug and pray as well. Anyway try different USB port and/or cable, seems like you get a bad USB connection to your PC.

i have a bad feeling my digidesign drivers are conflicting with usb audio somehow. or perhaps the drivers for my sound card. i hope it is the latter.

everything is connected fine, hooked up the same way as it was to the laptop.

edit: ok uninstalled all digidesign drivers and sound card ones too, no luck. don't you just love reformatting? xD
