Mimo Monitor for Winamp/Foobar2000?

Does anyone have any experience with these types of monitors? They're small touchscreen monitors you can add on to run small things like weather, instant messengers, etc...

I'm thinking about getting one to run Winamp or Foobar2000 but wasn't sure how good they were. I like how small it is and since it runs off the USB I wouldn't have to change/add a video card to my computer.

I saw some so-so YouTube reviews and never found any comments specific to using it for a media player. Just wondering if the touchscreen is good enough to pick songs/albums and work the basic controls.

I haven't used any but I can say that I have seen ppl having troubles using foobar2000 with its default or simple CUI interfaces with touchscreen, as the program wasn't designed to work with touchscreen. There're some configs out there to set up foobar2000 to use in touchscreen environment though.

I went ahead and picked one of these up. I found one of the Mimo Imo models used for a good price so I went for it.

So far it's been great. It fits nicely under my monitor and makes for quick song changes and referencing what's playing without taking up screen space. I've been using Winamp with the Big Bento skin. I looked for skins that were made for touchscreens but none seemed as good as Big Bento. Some of the keys can be hard to hit with fingers, especially scrolling down the play list. Because of this I picked up a $2.47 stylus from RadioShack and it made a world of difference. The screen seems perfectly accurate for anything you would need to do with Winamp.

If anyone has been on the fence about picking one up I suggest going for it. I've been really happy with it.

Looks sweet to have a little dedicated screen for an audio player, specially since it's part of a real computer, none of that netbook nonsense wink.gif

Winamp is nice, and I do understand you're using it as Big Bento does help with the whole touch interface thing. But maybe you could use foobar2000 if you applied a skin both to your liking and with a more touch friendly interface. Take a look at this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/536003/ditch-itunes-get-foobar2000-and-tweak-it-to-your-liking

Also, I hope you plan on getting Windows 7 soon as that XP you're using is already at legacy state, meaning no more windows updates and far less security, no matter what security solutions you might have installed, the OS is deprecated. Other than that, I like your workplace layout normal_smile%20.gif
