SHOCK HORROR, I think I prefer cheap headphones... - Page 2

I think it's a case of 'entertainment' versus 'refinement'. You get bored of Sevruga every day. Sometimes you need a Burger King, KFC or a Jalfrezi to put things into perspective.

Mmmmm, Whopper!

Lini

P.S.: I'm not quite sure, whether it's really entertainment vs. refinement. Ideally, I think one should get both - but if it's only the choice of one or the other, I'd also chose entertainment.

Haven't heard the 531's, but from my personal experience, I would suggest if you are looking for good sound and great value, try the Grado SR-60's just from pretty much any headphone jack you find, amped or unamped. That's only a $62 value, very good sound and great entertainment. Anyone compared the 60's to the 531's?

Well I used to own the SR-80, and I have to say that to my ears the DT531 is a hell of a lot better than that. The DT531 has deeper bass, just as detailed but less fatiguing highs, more comfort, and manages to sound lively without wanting to rip them off my head and stamp on them like I felt the urge to do with the Grado's.

Also, the DT531 can be had around £30 cheaper than SR-80 at UK prices. Theres no comparison for me...

It was a ridiculous combo but there were others that we tried in the same vein.
I think that was somebody else but I don't even recall who the other guys were.
