Well, I have lots of trouble with normal things that work flawlessly on my iPod touch 2G. Anyway, with ALAC, yes, the drain is much faster. With MP3's, I can get 10-15 hours of battery for music. Apple should include EQ decoding chips to lessen the overhead for apps like this.
