Asus Xonar Essence and XFX 8800GT

Hello!

I have been planning to purchase an Asus Xonar Essence STX, but I am wondering if it would be susceptible to damage from the heat given out from my 8800GT. (the two PCI-E slots are right next to each other).

It runs at 60C when idling (hits 70 during summer). And it easily goes up to 100 when gaming. (I don't game too much, but every few days I like to play some Audiosurf.... and then there are the ten-hour Audiosurf marathons that happen on occasion.) Admittedly, I am using its default fan setting - 30% while under 100C, 100% afterwards.

On another note, would running the fan at 100% affect the Xonar in any way at all?

(sorry if the question seem silly... want to make sure everything's in the clear before purchase.)

Thank you in advance,

Uupis

Your 8800gt GPU might be 100C, the heatsink certainly isn't.  You should be fine.

I have my Essence STX and 8800 beside each other and they're fine.
