Grant Fidelity DAC-09 vs Maverick D1? Has anyone compared the two?

...Also can they be used as headphone amps only? I'll use the DAC portion in the future but not right away.  Or maybe someone can suggest another head phone amp/dac alternative in the same price range.

I have listened to both in my system and own a Grant Tube DAC-09, they are basically the same units with a few differences. They most likely come from the same factory and are built by the same folks, they sound identical to me and I purchased the Grant because of a sale I caught and the fact that they have fantastic customer service. If something goes wrong with your gear there is a phone number to call, an email address to send info to...Maverick may have an office staff also but I don't know for sure.

 The fun part about these DACs is you can tube roll and there are a lot of different brands to try. As far as headphone amp only you can absolutely use them that way, I think in both cases though the headphone output does NOT go thru the tube output stage so its a solid state headphone amp if that makes a difference.

 I love my Tube DAC-09 and use it as a DAC, a pre-amp, headphone amp..they are extremely versatile for the money, I have not heard anything else in that price range that comes close. Just my opinion...hope that helps ya...Ed
