Today I received my second pair of what I'd call "decent" headphones, the Sennheiser HD25-1 II's. I've been listening to them for several hours today and I've just about fell in love with them. However depending on the device they're plugged into, they give a very different sound. On my PC (with X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty) they sounded absolutely wonderful. The bass was just right. On my laptop I find the bass to be pretty minimal, and on my iPawd it is nearly nonexistent. The volume on my laptop isn't sufficient either.
Is an amp like the Fiio e7 in my future? Is it the key to making my more portable devices sound like my desktop with the fairly strong bass? I really need to get some higher quality files on my ipod too. These headphones make mp3's sound like crap, for better or worse.
I fear this is going to be a very slippery slope, lol. As a geek, and photographer I'm pretty used to expensive hobbies (spent more than I want to imagine on photography gear...). When I bought my Sennheiser PC350 and paired it with my sound card on my computer, it felt like a new dimension of sound was opened. These HD25-1 II's are even better. I am hearing so many things I've never heard before, even in songs I've listened to hundreds of times before.
EDIT: Wow I totally meant to put this in the portable amps section. Guess that's what I get for posting at 2 in the morning. >_<;
