DIY earphone cable - best materials

Ok you cable gurus can anyone help.

I about to start making a new cable for my earphones, I am ok with the connectors at both ends but I am unsure of the best material to use for the wiring and insulation, also where to find a Y-split.

My requirements are not the normal audio quality requirements, but I don't want bad sound either my requirements are:

Light and flexible

Reduce micro phonics as much as possible

If possible use a braided sleeve.

From dissecting a cheap set of earphones they seem to use litz wire, probably because of it's smallness, this could be a possibility I guess but I would think audio quality is not great.

Thanks

I would run UPOCC copper wire as its not too expensive but yet the purest form of copper you can purchase. Run like 20guage in eaither a 4 or 8 wire braid. Here is a site where I get my occ copper and its the cheapest I can find anywhere!
