Vancouver area meet or get-together? - Page 7

Quite a lot of fun!  Got to hear a bunch of great headphones.  There's me in the picture above struggling to pull tips over my JH16s to make them universals, haha.  Loved the LCD-2s, and your whole portable setup Ian.  The Fostex T50RPs were very impressive as well given the price!

I just ordered a FiiO E9 to pair with my E7, and have been looking at the paypal button for the LCD-2s.  Maybe I'll have those for the June meet!

It was great to meet you Andrew.I was so impressed with your JH16's and can't wait to hear the E9 when you get it.If you want to here the LCD's again before deciding then just get in touch. I am more than happy for you to listen for longer.. Though I will say this, your swaying to the music and being so absorbed in it was very telling!

It was so great that Art took time out of his vacation and having just flown in as well, loved his HD25's!

A bit surprised with the whole blindfold power cable test result...

I missed that, what was the blindfold power cable result?  I'm assuming it was a blind test between that massive power cable and a standard one?

Oh, and Ian, thanks for the offer, I very well might take you up on that!

Haha, yes.

I had Ian do a blind listening test with the $1000 Cardas I has VS a $2 cheap generic one.

It was with his LCD-2s and my M-Stage, he said the difference was like night and day....

.....In that the cheap one was much smoother and better.

Personally, I don't hear a difference at all between cardas and cheapo.

The LCD-2s were amazing though, they were very much like my T50rp's but just bit better in every single aspect, now that I have heard them, I think I might need to tune mine a little more.

I thought that was so funny! And I am a firm believer in cables make a difference as well! Honestly though, the cheaper cable sounded much smoother!!

Andrew, any time mate, just let me know!

Hey, I'm really happy to have been able to see you guys and put names to faces, talk shop and try out gear. Thanks especially to Travis at the Headphone Bar for splitting his attention between customers coming in to buy things, and a bunch of guys who brought their own kit...

I'll write up some impressions and post photos as soon as I can.

Some of you were asking about the modifications I made on my T50RPs, so I uploaded some pictures here:

This is not exactly what I had today, as I have changed it a bit since then, but it should be roughly the same.

Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone for coming out today and hanging out while Broadway st. turned into a river!

At the bigger June 4 meet, I want to remember to line up the headphones/gear for a nice shot of everything together in one place. Maybe all the headphones in a circle, amps in the middle, something like that.

Naturally it was great to mix and match and I am looking forward to being able to do more of that at the next one.

I'd like to get more music ideas at the next one too. I'll bring some more music from home. Not sure if anyone else wants to do this, but between now and June 4 I would be interested in seeing on this thread what some people's favorite music is, that they'll be bringing. Thanks to Ian, I'll be picking up a Bill Evans & Lara St John cd.

Just remembered - I have a Audinst HUD-MX1 dac/amp too. Might bring that along with some other amps.

Sounds like the mini-meet was fun!

For June I plan on bringing a re-cabled K702s to compare to the K701s.  I’ll also bring the 840s to compare to the new 940s head to head.  I also try to bring some DT880 (600)s amongst others.

If anyone has any amps that may bass up the 701/2s please bring them.

The best sound and sound balance I've gotten out of the K702 is with the Elekit TU-882 with stock tubes. Victor of VK Imports sells the Elekit and is a local; maybe somebody can make a hookup for your meet.

Just bought a FiiO E9 and the LCD-2s, so I should have those as well for the June meet!

I definitely would love to hear more of Beyerdynamic's stuff, looking forward to checking out the DT880s!

Well done, LCD resistance is futile! I am really glad you bit the bullet, I know you will go so much satisfaction from them!
