The Avalanches

I've listened to a lot of music but nothing quite compares to The Avalanches.  Their debut album, Since I Left You is one of my most loved records.  No other album that I have heard has evoked some of the feelings I get when I listen to this masterpiece.  I'm not sure if there is anything else out there but if you know something along the lines of The Avalanches, you can have my thanks

Interesting I'll have to check it out.

I discovered Since I Left You about a year ago.  Truly amazing.  The sheer number of samples used, and the way they are employed is way cool.

I'm not much of a fan personally.  Sometimes I'll get into it and it's got a cool vibe, but most of the time it's just boring to me.

I hope it's not slow and boring....blink.gif

Oh yeah and DJ Shadow is sort of similar to The Avalanches in terms of the extensive sampling.  I have his album Midnight in a Perfect World and it's excellent.  I suppose Girl Talk is pretty similar too, utilizing pop music similarly to how The Avalanches use random old records.  The Avalanches aren't slow.  Their approach is very interesting but songs seem to be lacking in cohesion to me, which is largely why I prefer DJ Shadow.  I do love their remix of Belle & Sebastian's I'm A Cuckoo though =D
