Which is a better combination?

HM-602->cable going from line out->Pico Slim->Westone 4 IEM

or

iPod Classic 7G->LOD->Pico Slim-> Westone 4

 

Which would give me better SQ and would be a better choice?

I havent heard the Pico slim or (obviously) the W4, but I do have both the classic 7g and the the HM601, and have to say the SQ difference between the two is not subtle. Even using the line out the HM601 sounds significantly better to my ears. If you can deal with the drag and drop syncing and the minimal UI, I say go for the Hifiman.

the big reason to go for one of the hifiman players is to have a great sounding one box solution and not have to deal with lugging around additional dacs, amps, and cables.
