IMO it will be free from the low treble spike of the SRH840, while adding some upper treble presence, then they will have a more accurate treble than the SRH840. The 840 is a bit recessed in the upper treble.

oh wow...that's quite a jump from the 840 don't you guys think? seeing as they can be found for $126 shipped currently

Definitely, we'll have to see whether the price matches the sound, because it shure (ha get it?) doesn't match the style/looks rolleyes.gif

No, not really.  Remember the original MSRP of the SRH840 is 250.00, so it's not a real huge jump in price.  I'm sure we'll eventually see some nice discounted prices for the SRH940s.

ahhh...i wasn't into headphones long enough to know how much they used to cost when they came out

still...those bumps are disturbing me

Six months ago the street price for the SRH 840 was over $200. It's dropped a lot since then.

The SRH 940 will probably come down after it's been available for a while.

Yah it'll come down, but do you really want to be late to the party??

Or do you want to finally be an early adopter, able to make sweeping SQ reviews where fellow Head-Fiers hang on your every word?

Personally I'm probably going to buy these as soon as they come out and likely sell the 840s. I like the 840s a lot (though I'm thinking crazy thoughts about buying the LCD-2) but these ones go to 11 -- velour, swanky silver plastic, "bumps," hidden wires, oh my!
