I used to play football and baseball in school. Pretty standard stuff. I was good at both but lacked the dedication or motivation (i.e. lazy) to try and take it to the next level.
After school I was into paintball for a while, got too expensive. What's not to like about shooting people.
Not long ago I was competing as an amateur in Scottish Heavy Athletics. Stopped because of a back injury. I have Scottish heritage and I am big and strong and like to throw things and wearing a kilt kicks major arse. Meat pies are yummy too.
I power lifted as well but never competed. Again, big and strong and I was pretty good at moving heavy stuff. It was a good feeling when you noticed people looking at you like you're a freak after a nasty bench session.
Now I mountain bike for recreation, possibly some day if I can shed some weight, get in better shape, and get dedicated enough, I may try the WVMBA race series. Mountain biking is awesome exercise and the places it takes you are just breath taking sometimes. It's a challenge, an adventure, and most of the people in the sport are really cool to be around. Can be pretty costly though.
