Just have a question about buying an ie8 from ebay

I know the fact that sennheiser ie8 has too many faked versions on ebay throughout 2009, but are those fakes still there? I'm bidding an ie8 on ebay now and the temporary price is about 83dollors. Basically, I think it will stop at no more than 100 dollors. There is no more pictures from the seller but only a box showing the front side.

If don't mind, please check it, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sennheiser-ie8-ear-phones_W0QQitemZ250754184787QQihZ015QQcategoryZ112531QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ht_500wt_1156

Thanks guys!

There is no way you know what you are bidding on. Contact the seller and ask. Most likely it is fake thus this usually sell for over 300USD if they are authentic.

If you are short for 300USD for a real IE8, try Radius DDM.  This are twice cheaper and have similar sound signature, even better in some aspect then IE8.  Check multiple reviews..

I bought the Beats Tour (son just HAD to have them for Christmas... anyway,) and paid $129. They turned out to be fake, but luckily I was able to get a refund. It's hard to tell, as the seller had fantastic feedback.

The good: He has other Senn headphones, most importantly used open box ones.

The bad: He is a eBay reseller. There is very little reason to believe that he bought the IE8 below his final sale price.

I say this is fake 80% chance, and the seller probably doesn't even know it.

run like hell from a sale like that, it's not guaranteed to be fake but highly probable so your taking a less than 10% gamble your getting the real thing. Trust me I know because I thought I could beat the odds too. I failed and even though I got my money back the lost time effort and incidental expenses was not worth it AT ALL!

I agree with the Radius DDM recommendation if your on a budget, better to buy a cheaper headphone thats what is advertised than a fake that has $2 worth of parts and design in it aside from working very hard to LOOK like the real thing.

Thank you for all your suggestions! I have withdrawn my auctions. I would never trust any weird price on ebay. My budget is within 100 pounds though, i didn't see Radius DDM on amazon.co.uk, so I just bought a DTX100 on amazon, which is about $100. Hope it won't disappoint me :).

People here are really friendly. Again, thanks guys.

hmm... I had not heard of that model. Did a quick google and couldn't find much on them, but they are supposed to have a lot of good bass so should hit the spot for you. If you don't mind, post your impressions of them after you get them as this is very little information on them here at Head-fi. Good luck and happy listening :-).

BTW if you find them really boomy out of the box or the treble seems off plug them in and let play music for at night for a couple days and see if that helps the sound to settle in. I mention this especially when it comes to bass oriented headphones as they often need some burnin time to loosen up the diaphram a bit and people often mistake them as not being very nice and give up on them prematurely.

Yea, I will try to write some words on it, but it could challenge my poor English a lot....lol...

DTX100 is a moving-coil and it definitely needs some time to burn in. I would prefer 80 hours :)

Anyway, I will try to say something that you could possibly understand by the end of this monthwink_face.gif
