Only con is i think they could have done with a tad mor padding on that headband. But really did a great job on the earpads. I dont know about yall nut i find the ear pads much more comfy than the hd25-1 ii. Also easier to get a seal.

Good to hear :D

In case anyone cares anymore or bothered to read the dubstep discussion on the previous page I just went out and bough several CD's (previously not being an EDM guy). I have pretty much confirmed that I will NOT be recommending the DT1350 to anyone who is a dubstep/basshead.

Sure they extend low as has been well documented and discussed and people like to echo Tyll's "bottomless" comment (deadhorse.gif) and all that but these are just not the ones for this music.

I preferred my DT770, DT990 and even my K550 over the DT1350. Other than the dt1350's speed and really really cool reproduction of the midrange grinding noises. all of the others were more enjoyable overall. The music just sounds thin IN COMPARRISON without at least a little midbass emphasis for this particular genre (for my taste at least). The flat and not-emphasized bass of the DT1350 just does not make them a main candidate for this genre, even after eq'ing. Not to say they can't or won't be listenable, oh they will, they just would not be one of the better choices.
(yes I said my K550, actually with a good seal and a little eq of the bass, they do just fine).

So there, I felt I'd better check it out for myself and those are my thoughts.

Thanks for your impressions. As of 1 week ago, I didn't know what dubstep was. But I have enjoyed quite a bit of it over the last week on my cheapo S500's, and it is a genre that I think I will enjoy listening to now and then. So, I will give the 'ol DT1350's the dubstep test when I get the chance.

I'm not sure why you'd recommend full size headphones if someone was looking for a portable, but I don't try to figure these things out anymore lol....I just enjoy my music.

I have to say, though, I'm curious as to how many people look at a FR graph and think that's how the recording will sound...

will the fiio E11 make my dt 1350 sound better and louder with my iphone?

p.s: what is the different between all the apple cables in fiio and what you recommend me to buy with the e11 if any?

Regards,

Uri

Who's recommending full sized headphones? I missed that post.

Same here....I kept hearing the term on head-fi, but until a few months ago I had no idea. I've really enjoyed getting more into that type of music. I came across a track by ATB called "Autum Leaves" that I had stuck in my head for quite a while...I was pretty mesmerized by it. I need to get the cables on my T1s fixed (dog ate one side) so I can fire it up on those babies...but it's a great style of music...I could listen to that stuff all day.

Thanks, and I don't get why they would not work, My Dt 880s are really cool with Dub Step after Eqing, but the Speed and Midrange grinds r neato

Well thanks for that update... how was the Dt 990 with sub n mid grinding after eq

Very pleasant tune. I'd almost dub it "pop-dub-step" because it is a lot kinder and gentler than the harder core dubstep that I've been listening too lately lol! But again, very nice, and thanks for pointing it out! It does make for very nice ambient-like background listening.

I figured that was probably the case...I honestly don't know what fits into what category among DeadMau5, Skrillex, ATB, Daft Punk, Massive ATtack, etc, etc...I just know it all sounds good to me :)

Looks like a Google search classifies him as "trance"...another term I'm trying to get familiar with lol

Yeah, it's all new to me as well lol.

This was one of my first introductions to dubstep (you have to sign up to soundcloud, but it's effortless):

http://soundcloud.com/dubstep-4/dubstep-cosmic-dreams

At around the 1:09 mark, the bass gets pretty intense - "wicked drops" etc lol.

Doc: if you have the time, inclination and bravery to do so, let me know how that stretch compares on the almighty 1350's versus the S500's.

Warning: Enya it ain't! evil_smiley.gif

haha, you got it...I don't have my 1350s with me tonight (at a lady friend's place), but will have them tomorrow....try it straight from the laptop, with my USB DAC (Audioengine D1), and maybe even with my ZO2 in order to see how it sounds with more bass effect. I'll try it with both headphones (Im assuming you meant the Grado PS500s?) Actually I just realized my 500s are lent out at the moment...I'll use the Grado GS1ks for fun :)

Ha ha no, I'm still and audiophile bottom dweller. I have lusted after the DT1350's for a while, but my ascension to DT1350's greatness was interrupted by the purchase of some cheapo JVC HA-S500's ($55). I am no expert, but apparently they punch way above their weight. Doc, who recently got the DT1350's, also likes the HA-S500's, as evidenced in his "over performing" thread:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/625124/over-performing-over-achieving-headphones-iems-for-their-price-range-top-cost-effective-cans-iems

So now that he has the DT1350's as well (which I have been coveting), I like to pester him for his opinions of both sets of cans (actually, I enjoy pestering Doc just for the fun of it lol!).

Having said that, I'm interested in your impressions of how you think that whacky dubstep stuff sounds on your 1350's and your Grado PS500's, so bring it on! :)

Sorry bud, but I'm kicking your bottom dwelling butt! Not only do I NOT own the 1350, but my "amp" is a clip zip. So there!
