Amp picking up graphics card whine- how to isolate?

Basically I run my Nvidia GTX465 at 100%, 24/7. I can live with the small amount of cap whine it produces. But when I switch on my amp (not a headphone amp but you can imagine it is if that helps) it amplifies the whine through my speakers.

Seeing as the components are about 1 ft apart and separated by an inch of particleboard, I realize that proximity IS the problem. however with the way my stuff is set up thing aren't gonna move any time soon. SO. Is there any quick and dirty way I could block the RFI? I think I could find some mesh and mount it on the particleboard but I have no idea what mesh size I would need, or if it would even work.

Do you have a fairly high quality power supply in your computer?  I noticed much less videocard noise / hiss when I upgaded to a better PSU recently.  What type of AMP is it?  Are you outputting audio through an onboard soundcard?

Also, is the AMP and your computer plugged into the same circuit?  Just wondering if plugging them into different breakers would help.

It's probably your soundcard that's picking up interference, HIS sells this card that absorbs the interference between PCI cards if you'd like to pick one up.

I've never actually seen the effects of one, but it's worth a shot.

It's an OCZ 550W modular... I'd assume it's fairly high quality. However I do think my rig needs a better PSU. The amp is a Peachtree Decco connected over USB.

Yeah, the Decco and my computer are on the same power strip. Perhaps an uninterruptible power supply would help?

It's over USB. The HIS looks like snake oil at first glance and reviews confirm it. There's probably a reason it's discontinued on The Egg.

I'd say if anything, try different outlets (preferably one on another circuit) and see if it helps at all.

Also, does your USB cable have a ferrite choke on either (or both) ends?  The big question is if the noise is actually part of the signal being sent, or if it is being picked up by the device/cable.  I assume you've tried other USB ports?

That's a tough one for sure; let us know if you find anything that works.
