I really like my T1 paired with tube amps (Little Dot MKVI+ and Mapletree Ear+HD). But I think that deep down inside, I'm a SS guy (for convenience) ! Is there any SS amp that can drive the T1 with the same "umphhhh" than tubes ? I tried the Phoenix and I think it's a very boring combo. I have a Goldpoint HP-Pro, it's sounds good but I know it cannot drive the T1 like the MKVI+ can.

I likes tubes but SS is much more convenient in my situation. Any suggestion (balanced amp preferably) ?

SP: I really like the Concerto with the T1s. Great match to my ears. Are there any local Montreal Head-fiers with one you can try it out?

But, I still prefer the MAD Ear+HD with them. Not by a huge margin though.

My bad, must have missed that line.

He said "preferably". I personally don't get the "balanced thing".

No worries.

The Audio-GD ROC/Phoenix amps are an excellent match for this headphone.

Thanks for the suggestion but from what Alex told me, the sound signature is close to my Goldpoint. Too bad Alex sold it before I got time to try it !

Funny how we all have different taste. I have the Phoenix and I think it's boring with the T1. Maybe it's too "neutral" for my taste ?? Maybe deep deep down inside I prefer the "coloration" of tubes ??

We had a "mini"meet with Sokolov and Punkguy and nobody seemed to care for "Phoenix+T1" combo. The Phoenix was superb with the LCD-2  though. Maybe that's why there wasn't any love for the Phoenix+T1 combo ?

What about the HA-160?

I once briefly heard the HA-160 (not with the T1) and I remember that I was not really impressed by this amp. But to be honest, it was like 5 minutes so I cannot judge an amp on this. I'll have to try it with the T1. I hope there's gonna be a meet in Montreal soon !

I love the combo. I have to say that the ROC and PHOENIX are different sounding amps. The PHOENIX is a darker/warmer sounding amp while the ROC is very neutral without having the darkness of sound. I used to think the ROC sounded like the PHOENIX, but it does not at all. Perhaps that's why it matches better with my T1.

Also my WA3+ and ROC sound very similar when using high impedance headphones, though the Woo amp is more tubey.

Yeah, definitely you need that...
Look forward for impressions on that combination.
