Migrating from iTunes to Winamp

Hi everyone, I'd really appreciate having a few questions answered making the transfer from iTunes to Winamp. I've imported my whole iTunes library to Winamp through the install, I just have a few things to ask before I continue;

- Can I now delete iTunes and its library from my computer, without affecting Winamp's library? Or is Winamp sourcing data from the iTunes library?

- I've downloaded 80% of the music I have (the rest being CD rips), so most of my music is kept in the 'downloads' folder. What I want to do is take my Winamp library, copy it to a folder I'm going to name 'music' and then delete all audio files in the 'downloads' folder, so basically Winamp is sourced by my 'music' folder. That way I can delete all the files (a lot of which I no longer listen to) I have in 'downloads'  without having to worry if they're in my library. So how do I copy my music library to the 'music' folder I'm going to create? Is there a way of filing by artist or will I have to have a bunch of  MP3'S floating around in the one folder unorganized?

Thanks in advance.

PS. This is the first time I've been free from iTunes, so please excuse my lack of knowledge!

i think you should uninstall itunes. then i would go to your downloads folder and delete all of the files you don't listen to anymore. i'm not familiar with winamp but then i would go to file>add to library and add the entire "downloads" folder. (any new song you download will be added automatically as well.) of course all of your mp3 files in  "downloads" will be unorganized. you will have to organize them manually. your winamp library will now be sourced by your "downloads" folder. i hope i helped.

Thanks for the suggestion cowjuan. I was hoping there would be an easier way of copying my library from Winamp and putting it in my music folder, although it doesn't look like there is one.
