I'm relatively new to the audio scene but recently picked up a pair of Beyer dt 990 (600 ohms). Currently I'm just running them through my M-Audio AV40s(terrible, I know, but it has an internal amp. :/ ), and volume wise these are fine. However, I do know that an amp/dac would greatly improve my beyers, and that tube amps work best with these high impedance phones. Yes, I have searched and read numerous threads about amps/dacs like the Little Dot Mkiii, Fiio E7/E9, Nuforce uDac-2, M stage, etc, but all this scouring has only raised my confusion as to which amp and/or dac combo to go for. I'm on a tight budget so anything under $200 (new or used) would be fine. Please help this noobie out. Thanks!

DT990 loves tubes. If you're on a tight budget I think a LD III could be a good choice.

I was referred to the Phenix G3 and the uDac2 as a nice combo for these. Can anyone compare these to say...the LD MKiii and an accompanying dac? Thanks.
