Beats Studio pro full sized, mini reveiw. - Page 3

I have heard the Beats Pro with my iPhone 4 playing lossless audio files and at the Best Buy display.  The sound of the Best Buy display sucks.  The phones sound better than that.  I actually like the Beat Pros a lot. I am still suppressing an urge to get a pair.  They are funnest pair of phones I have heard on my iPhone without an amp.  Extremely dynamic, punchy, very wide and deep soundstage, and really good bass.  

I wonder if I can find a better pair of phones that can be driven this good by an iPhone?

... This is coming from a man with some LCD-2s and an HD650? How do you consider the Beats "dynamic" in the slightest? I'm so baffled by your post...

Err, I think the DT48 would blow a huge hole in that theory.  Even the Denon D5K would . . . 

@Dub Beats >>  I am talking about listening direct out of an iPhone 4, neither the LCD-2 or the 650s are driven very well from an iPhone.  The Beats Pro really rock directly out of the iPhone, better then just about anything I have heard.  

Also, don't draw conclusions about the Beats Pro from the Beats Studio or Beats, they have very different sounds.

He said the BB display sucks. I agree. they hold them back a good bit. Unless you've actually heard them...

Yeaaah, the second I posted that, I remembered the DT48 and felt stupid. I assume the Beyer T's don't either. And the Z1000, and probably at least a decade more.

Could you explain the sound signature of the Beats Pro? Are they like even more warm/forward than Beats with smoother highs?

I don't have an iPhone 4, but my LCD-2s sound great playing most type of music apart from classical directly out of my Cowon iAudio 9 without distortion, but then, why would anyone want to use the LCD-2s with a portable MP3 player? Since the Beats Pros are only slightly more expensive than the Studios, if they really sound that good, maybe they are a good buy.

Nope, try again. I haven't heard it myself, but the amp is described as warm, and the 9022 has its own coloration.

My Turbine Pro Golds (same company) trump the Beats pro driven out of my ipod touch. I still don't get what you see in the Beats being dynamic. I realize we're talking straight out of an ipod. Hell, even my DJ1 Pro can be driven straight out of an ipod with better results. If you're spending that kind of money just to listen to headphones out of an iPhone there are so many better sounding, cheaper alternatives.

I can't comment on how the Beats Pro sounds next to the Beats, to me most of the Beats line sounds bass bloated and shrill on the top end. And comparing a headphone with noise cancellation with one without is impossible, it messes up the sound too much. The LCD-2 sounds pretty good out of the iPhone, but I usually have the volume at about 95-100%!  The downside is that they have not get up and go and sound kind of flaccid on the iPhone - not a lot of dynamics.

so.....you're saying I'm wrong having actually used the Udac2, and it having virtually no coloration to it, but you have not herd it and think its colored....K

No, I was making a generalization on the inherent qualities on components. I'm not saying it isn't neutral-sounding, that would be dumb since I have no experience with it. I'm saying that they don't have absolutely no coloration at all. I was looking for a graph to at least support my point, but meh.
