Looking for an inexpensive watch....

I don't normally wear a watch...but I need one for school/new career. It MUST have analog and I prefer rubber/leather bands...I don't like the loose metal bands. I was looking at a simple Timex...just wondering if there is anything similar in design but better in quality for about the same price...absolutely no more than $100 but the one I was looking at is $60...I haven't searched yet for a better price. I don't know much about watches, except how to read one...that's why I am asking.

I was actually looking at a few Seiko's. The ones so far I liked were around $150 though. I know that really isn't much for a decent watch...just more than I want to spend for a work watch. I know they make some for less...I just need to keep looking.

***I just realized that the one you have in your post is about $75...not bad and I like it. I'll certainly check into those...thanks.***

I made the mistake of checking out the Watch-Fi thread...wow there are some nice watches in there. I found two that I am really drooling  over, one is $545....the other $4,500...both just a bit out of my budget...lol

my favorite watch is the nixon banks two tone. $320 msrp, but can be had for about $250 on ebay

Looks nice but not my style. I am definitely a chrono style fan. I think at this time my two DREAM watches are...

and...

But at $4,500 and $3,700 respectively...they will stay just a dream.

Realistically I may end up someday with something like...

But mostly likely this working class stiff will end up having to be happy with the watch in my fist post.

If anyone knows of a very similar style watch to the ones above but at a much lower price...please let me know. There are so many watch companies...I have no idea where to start looking. Again...for now I need to stay at $100 or less, but possibly as a college graduation/starting new career present (summer 2012) I can possible get something nicer in the $500-600 range.

Actually I am really liking this one...and it's only about $80 on ebay assuming it's not a knockoff...gotta check into that.

I'm kind of surprised watches are still worn with cell phones. Most are jewelry than time pieces. But if your going to wear one, it makes a statement, so get exactly what you want. I wouldn't wear a Cartier in the field or a Swiss army in the office.

You can't go wrong with a good Seiko 5 automatic or a Pulsar quartz watch. I had a Seiko 5 once and I still have two Pulsars and all three were great watches! Timex also makes good watches but I've found that, in the range you are looking at, they are hit or miss with the Easy Reader being a sure-fire hit every time. For a hundred bucks, if you have one of the large warehouse stores around like Costco or Sam's club, you can also find some good prices on good Wenger or Victorinox Swiss Army watches which are also pretty good quality.

Yeah...even before cell phones I was never a watch person. I wore one at work when I worked in LE and now that I am in the medical field I need one for taking vitals, ect. That is why I have to have analog with a second hand even though I always preferred that over digital. I look at the other suggestions...at this point I think the Seiko is probably got the lead but I will check some other options and go from there. Thanks all.

Stop watch around the neck? Pretty cheap from Radio Shack. I carry one in my tool bag and it comes in handy. Big display for darkened rooms.
