Nothing, really, I just want a pair of them when I get rich.
Actually, it may have something to do with showing the other work of the manufacturer that makes the Focal XS computer speakers.

This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...

I have the Z-2300's and like the satellite speakers but the subwoofer is lacking imo. I've tried to find info about proper placement in regards to walls, corners, etc but haven't really found anything useful.

I trust them more for their professional line than their audiophile line, and much better value IMHO.
But the best from Focal is probably SM11 line with digital filtering to match your room, not an overpriced luxury item like the Grande Utopia.
By the way, the plus minus 1 dB over 40-20000 kHz of the SM9 is nothing short of spectacular.

See http://www.grande-utopia-em.com/ if you want the very best from focal.
This was my first ever 2.1 speaker system for my pc and I found it absolutely fantastic for the price - I was blown away by the sound quality and how much volume these things could pump out for absolutely ages - I replaced them for fun listening (loud volumes whilst doing other things) with Audio Engine A5's (which now blow them away) and some Yamaha MSP5 monitors for reference - But 3/4 years ago when they were all the rage you couldn't find a better bang for your buck plug and go speaker system.
I've gave mine to my father now, so they're still in my presence but I do miss turning the bass knob to full and seeing how much I could shake the house
Ha.
Absolutely brilliant speakers. Period.
@RishiGuru
Wow, just wow.
I have been a long time lurker to some audio forums, but have never ever seen such a detailed & comprehensive review.
It took me half an hour just to read and a day to understand.
By now I already feel 10x smarter.
I own a Z-2300 and am super happy with it. But for the last few months I was thinking about an upgrade. My budget is $250. I play a lot of games. Movies & music are my second preference. Thanks in advance.

Thanks adcom268 for recognising my efforts. As I said before I am not a professional writer. I just write reviews for fun. I will try to write more reviews in the future.
As for your upgrade keeping games in mind, give a try to the newly launched Corsair SP2500. They cost a whooping $260 considering that Z-2300 cost just $110, but Corsair market them as "Corsair Gaming Audio Series™ SP2500 High-power 2.1 PC Speaker System"
The Corsair SP2500 webpage:http://www.corsair.com/audio/speakers/corsair-gaming-audio-series-sp2500-high-power-2-1-pc-speaker-system.html
Mind you Tom'sHarware did a review on the current top five 2.1 sets, in which unfortunately SP2500 with all our high hopes did not return as the winner. It seemed they preferred Logitech Z-623 over it.

Also here is the link where the Five set comparison as discussed in this forum : http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/533031/5-2-1-speakers
The problem is you already got the Z-2300, so buying a Z-623 is like repeating the same story. Go for the SP2500 or you can give a try to the Edifiers Signature series.
A member of this forum JRG1990 highly recommend there sets. I have not used them since they are quite rare, but they may be quite good.
But if you just want to listen to music & want to upgrade from Z-2300, Audio Engine 5 will be my obvious choice. But music & music only.

I have decided to go for Corsair SP2500. Comes at $250 with free shipping.
Edifiers are definitely out of my shopping list. My brother bought an Edifier S330D at $200 thinking it was an upgrade over his Logitech Z-2300. It went bust the next day. After getting the replacement we stuck to it for three more days before returning it a get a pair of M-Audio AV 40. Edifiers lack mids in comparison to Z-2300. It's that simple. Also the base seems to quite strange and most of time the big sub just sits there with no sound. They sound quite harsh compared to Z-2300 and crack at high volumes.
AV 40 are in a different league while listening music. But they under perform in games. Thats why I have decided to go for SP2500.
You can also try M-Audio AV-40 bookshelves + sub.

Have you tested them out with games? I thought they sounded really good with games as well as with music. You do miss the sub though obviously but gun shots in BFBC2 sounded so sweet with them.

I have tried the AV-40 in almost every kind of games be it strategic games like War Craft, Red Alert, Sim City, Generals, Command and Conquer and so on or racing games like NFS etc.
Simply put my Z-2300 is capable to take me to a new dimension with this kind of games which unfortunately the small AV-40 is unable of. I do not say that the sound of AV 40 is bad, just that it is unable to to create the oh so important in your chest feel. My Z-2300 sub is very good at that.
My SP2500 will be arriving soon. Will keep you guys updated.

Since you have decided to buy the Corsair SP2500, then do all of us a little favor by writing a review on the speaker set. Currently their is a lot of speculation going on the audio forums regarding its performance capabilities, so your review will definitely cast some light on it.
Thanks in advance.
They are also asking me, if I am professionally interested to do this kind of reviews. I am yet to think about an answer.
