Just received my Omega 2 MK2 and I had a question: - Page 2

I've done the port mod ealier mod today to my SR-007A. First thing happened i was immedialey farted upon when putting them on :) Second, the sonic effect is quite obvious: It sounds smoother and cohesive and the upper-mid etch is noticeably absent. Anyhow, It it's just plain more balanced and enjoyable phone this way. I'd like to know will the spring-mod improve matters even more significantly and is it fully reversible?

And why do we prefer farting? :-)

The farting itself isn't desirable, it is just an indicator that the headphone isn't ported, which is an attribute that is believed to make the Mk2 sound inferior to the Mk1. Stax probably specifically changed the design to get rid of the fart, the unfortunate consequence however is a slight change in the sound. Whether the trade off is worth it to you, only you can answer.

The spring mod should be 99% reversible but you are after all changing the shape of the metal springs.  With some care you should be able to get them back to the original shape with little problem.  I've never tried to do it as I've never seen the point in doing so.
