WTF is up with UPS....

Ok so I am here in Canada and I decided to order some HF5's from Etymotics directly and they decided to ship with UPS. Never used UPS in my life so I googled the local UPS place here and man had a bad feeling when I saw this...

http://maps.google.ca/maps/place?cid=5585469713894025461&q=ups+delivery+reviews&hl=en&view=feature&mcsrc=google_reviews&num=10&start=0&ved=0CEoQtQU&sa=X&ei=z1klTfCRFon6tgOqqLGCDQ

I ordered before the new years and the delivery date was set for Jan 5, which is today until they postponed it to tomorrow. So I check up upon it again and BAM! Delayed again with no perceivable delivery date. They might as well move that fricking delivery status bar backwards instead of forward because that is what is happening with the delivery.

Richmond, BC, Canada 01/05/2011 9:07 P.M. The receiver requested a hold for a future delivery date. UPS will attempt delivery on date requested. / Delivery rescheduled.

  12/29/2010 7:40 P.M. Registered with Clearing Agency
12/29/2010 5:05 A.M. Package data processed by brokerage. Waiting for clearance.
Hodgkins, IL, United States 12/28/2010 9:55 A.M. Departure Scan
Hodgkins, IL, United States 12/27/2010 11:14 P.M. Arrival Scan
Palatine, IL, United States 12/27/2010 10:30 P.M. Departure Scan
  12/27/2010 8:38 P.M. Origin Scan
United States 12/27/2010 5:41 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

Currently it says some BS about "receiver requested a hold" like yeah I want my package to arrive even later.... Has anyone here ever experienced this or know WTF is going on? I will never purchase online again with companies that ship via UPS.

Companies like Fedex, UPS are suppose to be better than most of the other shipping companies. They do that random rescheduling of delivery when the driver hasnt been able to  make the delivery and they wanna cover their ass. Give them a call and they will tell you when it will be delivered, its has happened to me previously.

Knowing UPS, I'm happy if the package arrives in one piece. That's quite rare though as UPS seems to have a giant hole punch machine located somewhere in their sorting facilities.

That happened to me before too. I got it the next day. And "clearing agency"... uh oh. Sounds like you're in for some brokerage fees. Good luck.

Still, I've found that UPS is the most reliable one, at least in my area. With Purolator, they will sometimes not even bother coming up to the apartment, and then say "delivery unsuccessful". I know someone who had this happen to him three times in a row (the same package) despite calling them up several times to make sure they had the right address and buzzer code. He finally told them that he'd go and pick it up from the depot himself the next morning. When he got there, they had sent it out for delivery.

Man just phoned UPS this morning and apparently it has been "rescheduled" to tomorrow. Yeah right... the driver probably didn't feel like driving in the rain.

Still less than impressive service from a major courier company. Not surprised at the brokerage fee, got hammered $11.49 by DHL when I bought something from someone here at Head-Fi and he declared it as $30. But it took only 3 days with DHL Express and it was from the other side of the world. This fee ain't gonna be pretty...

I agree I hate UPS, but love Fedex Ups are always on crack like literally, it all depends on the driver. The place I work at I do their 'payrolls'

If I get the usual guy he's usually prompt and on time. If I get the guy who is in love with his cigs he comes anytime of the day. Their timing is always off and tracking them down is not a joy.

My best experiences with UPS:

Worst: They forge my signature, leave a clearly damaged item at the doorstep while I'm home without so much as a knock, charge $40 to ship it back and then add a $5 "fuel surcharge" two weeks later. I should never have given these thieves my money.

I will ALWAYS choose USPS or Fedex if the option is available. If a store only ships UPS I won't shop there.

Rofl I agree, USPS is annoying as well came to my house with the package left 3 seconds later. A hour later the idiots at the office call me to tell me something has arrived.

Wow, don't they usually need you to sign something? They definitely have to tell me to collect my money haha.

Officially? Yes, if the shipper requests it. In practice? Never. Hence the part about forging my signature.

We were expecting a good-sized appliance a couple of days ago. My partner heard the truck pull up, stop and then the driver, "Oh f%#@!". By the time she got outside, the driver was gone, the dented box was dumped on the porch. The cord holder was broken off, but the appliance works ok.

Such jerks! (in lieu of harsher language).

Quickest way of getting the delivery is to find out which comapany's pick up location is the closest to you and get your items shipped though them. You should give them a call and just ask them to leave it at the depot for pickup.

They do that "unsuccesful delivery" without attempting one whenever they are busy or if they couldnt make it.

UPS fails.

It's such a pain as things get transferred into the mail stream.

1+ I have a UPS sub office by my house after I get a box I'll make sure everything goes thru there if whatever I order insists on using UPS.

Hey, at least UPS has customer support. USPS is trash. Absolute garbage. A "priority mail" package is supposed to take 2-3 days to ship. But if it's late, you cannot file a claim until 30 days since it's not guaranteed.
