Should I get the Klipsch S4i, Brainwavz M2/ViSang R03, or Head-Direct RE0???

Hey everyone! I have a major question!
First thing is that I can not go above $80

I have decided between the the Klipsch S4/S4i($3 more) or the JBuds J4.
http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-S4i-Premium-Noise-Isolating-3-Button/dp/B00264GYMG/ref=lh_ni_t_
http://www.amazon.com/Rugged-Earbuds-Headphones-Travel-Obsidian/dp/B0011TS8LM

The J4 earbud looks good, but I dont like the huge splitter, but it has good reviews. But, it is pretty new and I do not know if that is good or bad. Good because it is more advance I guess, and bad because it is new and not much reviews and comparisons about it.

The S4 is pretty old so there are a lot of reviews around the web and they all seem pretty good. And, I love the way it looks, especially it does not look too bulky like the J4.

I really need to be convinced to be able to spend the extra $40 for the S4. I do not want a bad sounding earbud because I will be using it for everything, and it will be my only one besides the apple earbuds.(I used to have the Creative ep-630 but it just stopped working randomly.

If there are any other ear buds that you recommend, then please tell me! But I do not want anything over $80 or nothing that is cheap. By cheap I mean not something that is not an upgrade from the ep-630. I really liked those, and the sound was good, but I want my new one to be better, but not for too much.

I hope this makes sense, and I didn't make it too complicated. Thanks for all the help in advance!

you should get neither the S4 nor the J4. Well I personally refuse to buy anything from JLabs until they change their deceptive marketing scheme.

I suggest either the Brainwavz M2/Visang R03 or the Nuforce NE-700X depending on if you are comfortable waiting 2 weeks or more for something to ship from China. They are both good products but sound different.

Thank you for the reply. I guess the J4 is now out of the list. I really like the reviews of the R03. But what is the difference from the R03 and the M2?

Also, since I cant really buy it from anywhere besides ebay, is there a warranty with the earbuds?

The difference between the R03 and M2 is that the M2 is the rebranded version of the R03. In other words the R03 is meant to be sold in China wile the M2 is the international version. It is very likely that the M2 is not allowed to be sold in China.

Oh ok. I really like the M2. But, i dont really feel safe about buying it from ebay. Plus, it doesnt say anything about the warranty, and that is a big deal for me. Plus its from China...I dont really feel confident. I think im gonna stick with the S4.

But, im still gonna do some more research. And if anyone has suggestion for other IEMs then please tell me. Thanks!!

Why dont you buy the M2 from mp4nation.

I've bought 3 iems from them. Postage is free, but registered . but it can take 2 or 3 weeks.

I cant vouch for the other IEMs you mentioned.............but I love my S4s.  They sound great with the variety of music I listen to.  Anything from Peter White, Earl Klugh, Stevie Ray, Najee, George Howard.........to Christina Aguillera, Beyonce', John Legend or UGK, Timbaland.........Drake.  All of the tunes come to life with the S4.  At least IMHO.  For $80 and a lifetime warranty, you cant go wrong really.

Tigerdirect has the Klipsch ProMedia Gaming Headphones on sale for $49 with coupon code OKL16588.  It's like the S4i but red and without the 3-button remote.

M2's all the way. i had and hated the S4. the M2's were my next iem directly after the M2 and it was quite a substantial improvement.

I am getting mixed feedback, haha this is hard.

I dont know why but in my heart i am liking the s4 more.

I think it is because there is no warranty with the m2 and that REALLY makes a difference to me.

Plus I got a $40 worth of gift cards for Amazon, so that will really help me out...

And the s4 has the control buttons which will be perfect for my iphone.

Thank you very much for all the help guys.

I like the red headphones but I really want it with the controls.

Jbuds sound like their price: cheap.

O.K.

I own a pair of S4i that I bought based on positive reviews. I don't really like it, but I don't hate it either. If you read ljokerl's review in his massive thread, I pretty much agree with what he has to say.

I paid $50, but I might dislike it more if it was $79. You really have to like bass to  enjoy this phone, but since you're comming from a cx300 clone, that shouldn't be a problem.

Just buy it, but keep these things in mind:

+ Nice design, mic/controls work well

+ L shaped plug, Y-cable length is good

+ oval tips are super comfy

+ sound is detailed

- included extras are nonexistent. aluminum carrying case is a joke. You'll have to buy a replacement one to protect these. Even my $15 meelecs have a better case.

-  bass is overemphasized, even distracting though not muddy

- highs can be harsh, fatiguing. Makes females vocals sound alien-like.

- same oval tips don't have amazing sound isolation, you will hear your surrounding unless you substitute foam tips or shure/etymotic triple flanges (you should if you're in a noisy enviroment)

- same cool angled design makes it hard to wear over ear to reduce microfonics (which are there, and annoying).

-  cable is O.K. but both stress reliefs connecting leading to earbuds tore after only a month, handled super carefully, but they're just made of cheap plastic. I'm worried the wire might short.
Also I've read people complaining about the jack shorting because of the same crappy stress relief plastic.

there is a warranty if you buy them from MP4nation.net. they sound better and are built better than the S4.

If sound, comfort and build quality is more important than your iphone source and amazon gift cards then use this forum to get a quality iem.   I have used jokers iem review and have found it to be 100% accurate,   I have found advice from old timers like Rawster to have wisdom from experience.   I actually got 4 different iems from jokers list and IMO he's spot on!  (I also got the Klipschs4 and hated the cheap thin cord and IMO canned sound.)   For $80 I have the Sunrise  Xcapes and they are very accurate and enough bass for me.   They are rated high by joker for a reason, just like his other iem ratings.(I'm not saying to get the sunrise, just using it as an example).   If you trust your gut on the Klipsch then IMO you are not using the wisdom and experience of this forum for an iem beyond your gift certificates and iphone.

Ok, based on the reviews from jokers thread, the Head-Direct RE0 is probably the best in the price range.

So now, I cant decide from the M2 or the RE0

I mostly listen to all types of Rock. If you want more detail like what kind, the bitrate of the songs, or anything like that, then just tell me.

The S4i is just keep on coming to me. I dont know why, and I know that none of you guys recommend the S4i, but still...

If only the M2 or RE0 have a volume control and mic, then id be really happy. The earbud that I want to buy is suppose to replace the apple ones, so...

I cant find any comparisons between the RE0 or M2...I guess its because they sound different, but what will be better for me? Remember, its Mostly rock, like breaking benjamin to disturbed(yes they are very different, just trying to show the variety) and the others in my family like want it to listen to stuff like rap and hip-hop...

So, I hope that is enough for you guys to help me out.

I am suprised no one metioned the RE0, since according to review, it is like the best one...

Plus, the RE-zero is unfortunately out of my price range...

Hi OP

If you want something in your price range that sounds great for rock and alt rock I'd go with Etymotic. I have a couple of different IEMs but I like the Etymotic sound signature for listening to rock because they're very detailed and the vocals come through with great clarity (you can hear the artist taking breaths). For me, under $100 they come closest to delivering a flat sound, like the studio headphones I'm used to listening to.

er-6i are around $70, but don't have a mic, The newer mc5 are also around the same price at $79, and have a little more bass thump because of the dynamic driver. hf5 are more expensive at $119

If you can splurge, get the mc3 for $99 since it has a mic and ipod controls.

You'll get more of a "wow, these sound much better than what I used to have" than you would with the s4i.
