New Miles Davis Trumpet (not Tribute) earphones - Page 33

Hey guys sorry to Butt in but is it possible to see if my miles trumpets are real? i got them at visions on sale for 89.99 which makes me somewhat suspicious. Plus i think i may have to RMA them after 5 days (if they are in fact real) as the inline mic stopped working after about two days :(. i am assuming it is just bad luck on my part as i haven't heard of any issue like it with these IEMs as of yet. The problem quite interesting though. All buttons still work but all i seem to get from the mic is crackling followed by silence leading up to an almost explosion like sound (my voice can not be heard on the other end of the line at any point). this repeats on random intervals until i hang up. The headphones sound great but the build of the remote at least seems a little sub-par with a plastic feel and noticeable lines where the two half's of the body were molded together. i will link in some photos shortly. I'm really hoping everything looks right but i suppose we will see :confused_face_2:

Here are the pictures. in the first couple you should be able to see the molding lines on the remote.

they look like mine, and mine are authentic and purchased directly from Monster. What about the jack? Can you post pics of the jack? You might just have a defective unit, which is common with mic set ups.

Yeah same with mine, but I guess that is why I described it as 'flimsy' as the cable sort of is. I mean its good that it's leight weight but it does seem to have a fair bit of microphonics. I guess if it sounds good it has to be real right? lol

Cons aside, I do like the sound sig coming from these! Reading reviews gave me the impression that they would be more flat/neutral but it definitely isn't to me.

Oh and the tips ... I see why you guys had problems with fitting.... The medium gel ones are a bit too big and the small ones are too small.. Would have loved to use them but i'll stick with the normal grey ones for now.

sure thing! just give me a moment as my camera often tends to act up trying to focus on small objects

those look exactly like mine. I think you got legit trumpets, but unfortunately you got a defective mic. This is the reason I hate mic iem's. RMA those suckers, and trust me, when you've spent enough burn in time with them, and they are working correctly, they will shine for you. Beautiful sound signature.

A bit of an update.I called up monster only to find out I cant RMA as monster has run out of stock on the trumpets which were discontinued a few months back. I asked if i could swap them with any other similar series such as the turbine pros but he said they were discontinued as well . The guy said the only headphones they could give me as replacement are the Ncredibles or DNA , a little bit of a letdown to say the least. I am going to to try and make a few more calls to see if they guy i talked to missed anything (looking at the website they trumpets and turbines still seem available ). On the bright side he recommended i wait until late June as monster is planning the release of the new and improved turbine pro series which i can swap the defective unit for. Hopefully it will be a free upgrade on my part but i have an aching feeling things wont go too smoothly once June arrives.

I would not let them force you into a downgrade. The Trumpets have a significantly higher MSRP as compared to the nCredible and DNA and is a better IEM than the nCredible. They need to find you a pair of equal or higher value. If you can, I suggest you get them to send you an email confirming that you will get their latest offering in the same price bracket or higher when they release their new models.

Not the greatest news to hear when I JUST shipped my pair to be RMA'd (well it was a pair of turbine pro's - but regardless). But seeing as they do have a lifetime warranty, I would wait it out

Yes probably the right decision. I declined the current offers and opted to wait for the future top end products. I will try to get an email confirmation on a guaranteed replacement, hopefully they will agree without fuss :p

I'm glad so far so good with my Trumpets. They continue to work properly, and bring my wife much joy when she cleans. Btw, I'm currently auditioning the Audio Technica EP1, and so far, out of the box, they remind me very much of a combo of my old HiFiMan RE-0 and RE-ZERO. They are very HiFiMan in sound signature, with high degree of transparency, ruler flat FR, with bass that's there, but not anything colored at all, with beautiful natural timbre and very clear and energetic treble. This without much burn in time at all. I'll have a proper impression review after 50 hours of burn in. Those who don't appreciate the HiFiMan sound need stay away.

Hi guys, just bought the trumpets on sale, will be joining you guys :)

Just to satisfy my curiosity, has anyone tried the coppers too? I would love to know how they compare.

Welcome to the club, and the Trumpets are superior to the Coppers in everything but fit. The microdriver of the trumpets are wideband, much like the Sennheiser IE80 and IE800, so they have better detail, bass and treble are more refined, and the mids are slightly clearer, due to the lack of mid bass hump like the Coppers. The Coppers have a warmer sound.
