New Miles Davis Trumpet (not Tribute) earphones - Page 18

Rather new to all of this, but very keen on picking a pair of these up except for the scarce reviews at the moment.

I normally just walk around with my AT ESW9s after giving my sibling my UE 700, but figured I'd like something more portable again and the in-line mic would come in handy

Noel Lee is a Jazz freak and it's good marketing and good for the Miles Davis estate.

I still want to try these. If anyone's considering starting one of those loaner tours to get more opinions out there I'd love to be part of it.

GF bought these today for me as a gift from best buy :).  I'm excited to try them out.  I had previously owned the MD turbines and had sold them, taken a break from the headphone scene, and have just recently returned after loosing a pair of crappy iems.  Anyway, I was debating between these and over ears such as the alessandro ms2i (hah totally diff beast-I know), but figured since I need something that I can use in all situations I opted for these.  I have 30 days to test them out anyway per best buy policy.  I hope that I can truly use these in my day to day listening, which would also include walking out doors-so hoping the micro phonics won't be as bad as described for me at least. Appreciate all the info in this thread-very helpful.

Wow, got to listen to these for the past hour or so out of my iPhone 4.  Beautiful, really.  I found myself singing out loud for the majority of the music I've been listening to (don't ask).  Great iem's, and the micro phonics is not as much of an issue when walking as I had feared.  With the music on, it's not a problem unless you look for it, but this is just walking around my apt.  Anyway, I noticed that they don't have the L and R engraving on the outer gold mouth piece as is on the box.  And for the life of me I couldn't see the signature.  These are from best buy so deff real.  Anyway, maybe they made some design changes.  So far so great, can't wait to burn them in and give more detailed impressions.

Looks like the trumpets are on sale this week at Best Buy for $250, in the weekly ad.  At $100 of msrp I will likely be sucked into buying based on the comments in this thread.

They've been $240 at earphonesolutions.com (also an authorized reseller) after a 20% off coupon code (CHILL11) for a few days now, and I believe the coupon is valid until the end of October.

im thinking of getting this instead the meelec cc51.

do you think there is no contest between the two?

i think both contain the same driver.

I got mine from best buy.  I chose them over earphone solutions primarily due to the 30 day return policy, which I don't believe earphone solutions has.  Also you don't have to wait for shipping and all that jazz

The cc51 is pretty nice for the price and I'd recommend them for that reason.  The Trumpets are on another level and priced accordingly.  Not $300 but definitely substantially more than the CC51.  They do both sound like microdrivers and the Xcape and EX1000 both sound like dynamic drivers.  That should give you perspective in your analysis.

Sonically I'd put them around the best phones out there for $150-$200 like the B2/GR07.  Whether you feel the design, look, warranty and packaging warrant the rest is up to you.  There are $300+ phones that sound worse than those three I mentioned to my ears so it's subjective.

^thanks.

well, i think im gonna jump into one now...

tributes or trumpets...

im really scared of the tribute's build issues but somehow im almost tempted to get one because of the buzz about its beautiful sound sig.

crossing my finger...

hope i could make the right choice between the two..

people.

if you were in my place, which of the two would you get?

Is Monster's lifetime warranty really lifetime?  No matter how well you take care of something, inevitably it will fail.  Say 5 or 6 years down the road, the Trumpet's fail, does that mean Monster will give you another pair of Trumpets or equivalent (if Trumpets get discontinued).  Is this warranty one and done or can you continue using it after a replacement fails too?
