Now that we have a location set - London, we need to set the date.

 

Please indicate your preferred date(s) using this poll. Since this poll is set to allow voters to select more than one option, if you're able to make more than one date, please select all the dates you're able to make (if you can make all dates by all means vote for all dates, which will give us an indication of interest, otherwise not voting at all won't affect the date chosen obviously).

 

We're looking to set a definitive date which accommodates as many people as possible, so please only vote if you're sure you would like to attend and that you're likely to be able to make the dates you select. Obviously people's plans change despite best intentions, and that's fine - we intend to keep the poll open until the end of Jan, which should give people some time to firm up their availability as much as possible.

 

If you're only able to make one date, please simply state that date as a post in this thread (in addition to voting of course) and we'll try to factor that into the final decision if at all possible. Please post general discussion and suggestions relating to the meet in the main thread, link above, and only post unique dates or matters directly related to the poll to avoid fragmented discussion as much as possible. Thanks.

 

This is my first poll so I hope it works properly (!) and that my suggestions are sensible (and not more complicated than it needs to be). If anyone can see a problem with this plan of action please advise.

I voted for 5 out of the 7 (the first 3 and the last 2) as I can make any of those but just for the record I would prefer the first 3 dates as that's when I'll be in London and not Durham.

Just another thought with the dates is that the school holiday for spring will coincide with some of these. Doubt it'll cause much problem, but just something to consider for those with family or those who may be on holiday.

2011 Bank holidays in the period of interest are:

 

22/04

25/04 (Royal Wedding rolleyes.gif)

29/04

02/05

 

The 23rd of April may be out then as London will be rammed with tourists, etc., because of the wedding.

 

The 30th of April may not be a good choice either because both the Friday and Monday are B/Hs meaning people will likely be otherwise engaged. We'll see what the poll indicates.

 

The two dates in May are looking promising - gives us more opportunity to organise too!

I suddenly remembered that my final A2 exams will be starting in May. Probably the first exam I have won't be until the 18th at the earliest, but I'd like to keep most of May clear for revision time.

 

I don't know if that affects anyone else. FYI I'll be 18 on the 21st of January, so no worries about underage attendees.

Ah, I forgot about the wedding, plus the bank holidays in general on top of that. I suppose with so much holiday time the hotels might not be as cheap as normal. I'll look up some of the big chains tomorrow and take a look at what sort of prices are going at the moment.
