Improvement statistics universal to customs Part I

Hello head-fi'ers.

 

I want to make some statistics about the percentage of improvement between a universal and a custom.

Obviously, with so many iem's, some generalizations are need.

 

In this poll:

A entry class universal iem (~=75$) is considered as the lowest value (1).

A high class custom iem (~=900$) is considered as the highest value (10).

Then, to the high class universal iem (~=300$) is given a value between 2 and 9.

 

To the answer, you have to choose where the high class universal stays (20%-90%), between a high entry class universal (0%) and a high class custom (100%).

 

 

So I ask to the head-fi'ers with thoose 3 classes of iem, their opinions.

 

My intentions are to calc the average, mode, range, and p-value of the results of this poll, and cross with the results of the thread "Improvement statistics universal to customs Part II"

I didn't really get it. We have to choose how much IEM improve or something?

To me If Custom IEMs like JH13Pro/JH16Pro, ES5, UM MIracle are 100% then high end universal IEMs include Westone 4, UM3x, Westone 3, SE535, SM3, CK100, GR10 are 50% to 75% of Custom IEMs.

This is totally personally preference based on your personal fitament difficulty.  I always had great success with W3 fit and thought I got the most out of the sound.  I find my JH5's slightly better but not hugely better.  I know others that would consider JH5 hugely better but they always struggled with W3 fit.

I went with 20% for me.  Perhaps even a little more.  For me, with universals I always preferred how foam tips sounded but the hygeine factor gets old.  SO NICE to stick in a one piece arcylic shell that just "locks" into place in your ear cavity.smile.gif
