Lots of refurbished ones available on eBay. And Amazon still has dealers who carry new ones, but at ridiculously high prices all thanks to people like us :D

Are they actually still made or just "leftovers"? I just looked, and wow. You're better off buying a bunch of used ones! Would probably last longer...

Leftovers... I'm hitting on all the old audio shops hoping that some of them still carry brand new, unsold iPod 5.5gs haha~ But having been left in the box for so long, I would suggest replacing the batteries. I replaced mine with a higher capacity 850mAh set :D

check ebay as well. from time to time  a new, unopened one gets listed.

I got lucky couple months back and snatched an unopened 5.5 gen. and at a very reasonable price.

Good luck with that - I work in a consumer electronics store and, at most, we will have a few 'stragglers' from the previous generation for a month or so, then its all current gen stuff. Its the only time the boss is willing to do deals to move Apple gear, as their retail margins are much smaller than other brands and the kids usually only want the latest and greatest.
