Need help. Good SS amp-only (no DAC) that has RCA inputs?

Hey all,

So....I just discovered that my E9 has zero RCA inputs - which means the MSII+ I just ordered is useless with it.

Not happy about that - but can you recommend an amp of similar value that actually has standard RCA interconnects in?

Tube or SS - preferably available from Amazon for quick shipping.

Tak!

Hey guys, DAC/Amps with RCA in essentially skip the DAC, right?

Like a hifiman Ef2a if plugged from HRT MSII+ via RCA would bypass the DAC part of the DAC/Amp?

We just told you that ALL YOU NEED is an RCA to 3.5mm cable and hook that up to the line in on your E9. It's the SAME thing as having an RCA input..... <_<

This is the first reply to my thread.

Secondly, RCA to 3.5 seems like a less than optimal solution.

The cable is doing the same exact thing an RCA in would do. It will merge INSIDE the amp anyways. Unless you have some pretty craptastic cables, there shouldn't be any noticeable difference.

Lol, I meant we told you on the other threads. XD

Yes -- unless your amp or dac is a fully balanced design with separate ground channels for L and R, the shared ground is merged/shared anyway so RCA-to-3.5 makes no difference.

Envy is right. If you have any doubts you can buy "nice" cables/adapters.

In any case, what's wrong with the E7 anyway? Is any of your music in 96/24 format?

The HRT MSII+ is a prelude to the Schiit Lyr (E7 has no line-out), which is a prelude to LCD-2s. Nonetheless, the Lyr won't show up before March (still need to preorder it, actually). Nonetheless, I want to use the HD 650s with each component as I build to the LCD-2s.

Accidental double post.

First off, get the adapter/cable as stated.

Second, are you aware of this?

And third, you can edit your double instead of posting a third time. tongue_smile.gif

Hey disastermouse,

If you do end up getting another amp and/or DAC, please post your impressions with various combinations using the HD650's. I for one would be interested, as there aren't that many A/B comparisons with the E7/E9 combo and others.

Maybe some nice cables will eliminate your worry about the SQ with that 3.5mm in. biggrin.gif

I use this cable to connect my phono pre-amp to my E9.
