I have Questions regarding WASAPI vs ASIO and the setup of the components. I know there are lots of topics about this subject , but mine is about the SQ and difference between the two. Lots of people say there isn't a difference because they both are bit-perfect. Let me describe the differences i hear:
WASAPi 16bit Foobar: Smooth highs with more bass output than asio and the midrange is more sibilant than the ASIO plugin. Sound stage is bigger than ASIO
WASAPi 24bit Foobar: Too Smooth highs with more bass output than asio and the midrange is less sibilant than the 16bit setting.. Sound stage is bigger than ASIO
ASIO driver for the ASUS D2X with Foobar24bit: Highs are less smooth than WASAPI bass seems tighter than WASAPI and Sound stage is smaller.
Rig: Analog Asus D2X > Denon AVR 2105 > Excite X12
Am i doing something wrong? Here is a screenshot of the settings with foobar:
