Help choosing opamp

Thread Starter

Hi guys, I've done a few searches and read a bunch of threads about opamps, but I'm still having trouble picking one. I have a Xonar Essence with 2 AD8620 and it sounded great with my senn pc350. I just got the HD 598s though and it sounds terrible. The treble is way too harsh.

Can someone recommend an opamp for my xonar essence with less harsh treble? I've heard maybe the 8066 might be better for me (I like that it's supposed to have better bass). Any others, like the 627 or something?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if you guys get posts like this all the time. redface.gif

How did the circuit look like? Did you use a buffer between the opamp and the headphone?

I'm using the Xonar Essence STX (sound card), so I really don't know how the circuit works.
