Ever since I installed Vista on my Dell Inspiron e1505 I have had staticy, choppy audio with the Sigmatel audio chip sound card. I tried various wireless card, video and sound drivers but the result was always the same. I found an answer recently in another forum: Updating the SATA and Usb drivers from version 8.xxxxxx to version 9.xxxxxx using one of those updating softwares like you see on the internet .After doing this update and using Foobar, XMPlayer, and Winamp with WASAPI,and ASIO as suggested here in this forum I am in audio nirvana.I now can listen to my classical audio flac and mp3 files with headphones plugged into the laptop without any distortion. I thought I would pass this tip onto others because it took me months to find my solution. Best regards.
