A $1000 tube amp to power DT880/T1

I'd like to upgrade an amp soon. I haven't had a tube amp for a while and as I have DT880s and as I'm planning to get T1 soon, I decided I'll come back to tubes. As for the source I'll use HDP, I'd also like to get a pair of DX1000s but these are another thing and will probably use them with HDP without any external amp. So, any recommendations for sub-$1000 tube amp?

I would recommend the Woo Audio WA2 in that price range.  It's my favorite amp with the T1's - they are a very symbiotic pairing.  And it's in exactly that price range.

I currently have the wa2 and have to say it really brought the Beyer dt880 to life for me.   I am using Tung Sol 5998, Mullard ez80, amperex phillips SQ 6dj8.  Like Skylab said its right at your price range.

Happy new year

Plus you can't discount the looks, build quality and matching color scheme. biggrin.gif

How would you guys describe the sonic qualities of the Beyerdynamic T1/ DT 880 with the Woo in contrast to the Decware CSP-2?

I am in the same boat as well, I've been looking at upgrading my Darkvoice 3322 to the WA2. Same with purchasing the T1 to upgrade over the HD650.

Not to hijack your thread, but would you guys recommend doing any of the upgrades for the WA2 or is the stock version enough for the DT880 and T1?

Well, I love Woo amps, they look awesome. Will WA2 be better than WA6SE?

LD MK VI+, probably the best you can get in this price range. Only balanced though as the SE output is inferior.

Unfortunately, I'm not into balanced stuff... Nice Panty avatar, though! ;)
