Just Bought a Schiit LYR, Now What do I need? - Page 2

If you'll be coming from PC or Mac, your answer is an HRT Streamer of some sort (Streamer, Streamer II, or Streamer II+). It's a DAC that goes from USB to RCA out with no complications.

If coming from component audio players, there are a LOT of optical/coax DACs out there.

 

I'll add my second to the HRT recommendation.  Highly revealing and music all at the same time.   I like what Srajan at 6moons said when reviewing the Steamer +,

 

"I think of it as day-time versus night-time listening - sex with the lights on or off. One is more about seeing, the other more about feeling. Both address our senses but different aspects for a different experience. That a $299 USB DAC should belong into the second class is quite the surprise."

I'm going with the Streamer II+/Lyr combo myself, so it'll be cool to contrast and compare.

 

I'll be rockin' HD 650 until I can sell a non-vital organ to get the scratch for some LCD-2s.

If it were that easy, I'd be but skin and bone... unless you know anybody that needs some skin.
