I know it wasn't one of the two choices but I'd go with Blue Lines. The way that 'blue lines' leads into 'Be thankful for what you've got' is absolute genius.
After this thread I'll have to go back and listen to the Mezzenine and Heligoland again.

Mezzanine is my favorite. not sure what my next favorite would be though. i love the song Protection, but i'm not sure about the rest of the album yet. Massive Attack is kinda new to me but Mezzanine just clicked with me. so much going on, so many layers.
Heligoland is the only one I purchased on iTunes because I knew I would want the remixes. When you put the album and the remixes together I value the album a lot more.
Will have to go back and listen to them all to pick a favorite but I was really happy to rediscover 100th Window about three months ago (due to it having no graphics on the purchased disc).
They were awesome at the Greek Theater a couple months ago, just got a bit depressed by the messages that play behind them on a huge LED text display. I listen to enough NPR.
The gui boratto remix was amazing indeed.
LOL.
Politics at a gig, how terribly inconvenient for you.
