Well, if you don't like C&W, don't matriculate at Texas A&M.  I went to one of the schools you're still waiting to hear back from.  Visited the Bryan/College Station campus once, and once was enough.  Reminds me of the original "Blues Brothers" movie with John Belushi and Dan Akroyd.  Jake (or was it Elrod?) asks the owner of a road-side bar what kind of live music acts play there.  He replies, "We got both kinds of music here; country and western."  They end up playing the theme music to the TV show "Rawhide" to minimize the number of beer bottles thrown at the chicken wire put in front of the stage to protect the musicians.

Not trying to be a smart alec, just saying letting you know that you were indeed very close 

It gets worse when you want all three, a possibly better amplifier, a better DAC and the vinyl bug has bitten you. Even worse, the ultimate in transparency demands a close to flawless set up and that is tricky. Bass, I have been there, treble idem ditto, mid-range idem ditto. I blame on the glorious music J.S. Haha whatever! I got the general idea. Vinyl is pretty amazing. OP, get into that. Your ears will thank you. And maybe a ß22 and a nice Twisted Pear DAC. Sony R10? AT L3000?

Are there really any other schools other than UT?  I'm not sure who would pass up the chance to live in Austin....

If you don't mind me asking, what was your alma mater :D

 

Also, I've been on campus at Texas A&M twice, and now that I think of it, I don't remember hearing any country music, and the surrounding college town is nice.
