Or a 1 Mega Core CPU with 2 Mega Threads.

Why not a single core 3THz processor? That way when you are working on a single task it will be fast, instead of only using 1/1000 of the processor. Powerful single CPUs are fine for multitasking, I think it is more OS dependent when people 'need' more cores for multitasking. It also makes it harder for programmers to allocate resources and program applications to utilize such fragmented hardware.

Case in point: Puppy Linux can open 40 applications across 2 desktops, and instantly switch between them, all without freezing, stuttering, or 'not responding' all on 1GB of RAM and a single core 1.8GHz CPU.

Would love to have the power for movie transcoding though, as that is the most intensive task I perform.
