Metal Dome tweeters

Are metal dome tweeters speacial in any kind of way? I have read reports of them being Vey accurate and some other

reports of a harsh, brittle sound that eminates from such a tweeter.  A metal tweeter would be more durable than a rubber or cloth dome, and wouldnt the charachteristics of the metal enhance the High frequencies? Thin Metal after all does ring with a high piched 

"ding" when struck..

Metal is good because it is stiff and has low damping, just the ringing might get to much at higher volumes and yes metal probley does sound harsh and brittle, it has it's advanges and disadvanges like all materials used for tweeters, i personally prefer fabic tweeters are there nice and smooth and never sound harsh even at really high volumes, electrostatic tweeters are probley the best type and have the least distortion , but aren't used as there high cost, large in size for full range designs, and fragile.  s are prs
