Economic way to improve Pc sound!

Hi all!

My onboard PC sound at work kind of sucks. I am on the IT support staff so I could drop a new card in but it would have to be low profile because of the small form factor PCs we use. USB would be fine too. External amp, as long as it was small and easily stashable when I leave, would work too. Because this is at my job and not a secure location, I don't want to spend too much money. The idea is that it would be less of a loss than my J3 if it came up missing. I also know that I am not going to get great improvements, but something would be good.

Maybe something like a Turtle Beach usb soundcard would be adequate.  I use the Micro-II and its quality is superb by my judgment.  It also doesn't cost an arm and a leg...easy to pocket at the end of the day and take home. :)  No drivers necessary-just plug in and go.

There's also the fiio E7, also small enough to put in your pocket and take home, it also doubles as a portable amp aswell.

hey thanks a lot for the wonderful options. I love them :) let me ask for both of these and decide which suits me best :)

A refurbished uDAC or would be a great budget option too - $64 gets you a USB DAC, headphone amp, volume controlled RCA line outs, and a USB to SPDIF converter.
