E9 iPhone/iPod adapter?

I read on the original Fiio release threads that the E9 didnt have iPhone/iPod connectivity yet as they were deciding whether to release as a dock adapter or a totally separate model.
Having an iPhone I thought i'd wait until they decided and i could use it docked into the E9. Looked at the Fiio website, which states......

Quote:
*The base on the top of E9 can be changed for using a special base of iPod/iPhone , but you need to buy the base of iPod/iPhone separately

So how do i get one of these "changed" models? None of the UK distributers say anything about it...

The E9 iPhone dock will be a DIY-only kit that FiiO has yet to release to our knowledge. It will be available to those who are brave enough to do the surgery on their own.

My recommendation is to get a L1 or L3 LOD cable for your iPhone and use that to feed signal into the E9 instead. This may not look as nice but it preserves the FiiO dock interface for use with other FiiO products such as the E7 and upcoming X3 DAP.

Ah rite, shame,  frown.gif their website got my hopes up, looks like i'll have to go back to waiting.

Thanks for the recommendation, I might pick up a L1 for my E5, but seeing as dont listen to my music from the computer very much i dont think the E7 or X3 DAP would be very useful for me.

The "all in one" -ness of a dock and headphone amp was a big selling point for me.

Cheers Anyway
