DIY ADC and DAC?

Maybe this is the wrong forum to ask for a DIY ADC but it's worth a try. I have a big chassis to fit the M³ and σ11, but there's so much space unused. So why not fill it up? Anyone know any DIY DAC and ADC worth looking at? I prefer to order it from Mouser and Digikey. I probably need USB/Firewire, Coaxial/Optic Out/In, and Mic ins.

 

Do I need a Mic Preamp as well? I don't have one.

Check the PCM2904 and see if that is something like you want

Not many ADC-projects around (at least in the hifi-pages, there may be more if you look at pro audio DIY forums), but here's one:
