Hi. I am really sorry for creating a new thread, but I need some answers, and my previous questions in the Pen-fi thread have not been answered. I bought a Hero 329 from a local stationary store last week, and today I went down to the Fountain Pen Hospital down here on Warren Street to get some Noodler's Bulletproof black. Obviously, because I have absolutely no experience in filling the pens, I asked if they could help me. They tried helping me, but the pen just would not fill. They kept squeezing the metal sleeve, and the pen would continue to be dry. They examined it, and the nib was not damaged. So I just said thanks for the help, and I looked online to see what would be a good way to fill up the pen.
I found out that I could remove the metal sleeve to reveal the plastic "sac". I cleared it out in a cup of water, and I tried filling it with water. First, I tried it the regular way, by squeezing lightly, and then releasing. The water did not even go past 1/4 capacity. Then, I tried pressing hard, and releasing quickly. This worked alot better, but created plenty of air bubbles. I don't know if this is a bad thing, but after doing it a while, I was able to get it nearly full, albeit having tons of bubbles. I really don't know how I should fill it. Filling it the "safe" way, by pressing slowly and letting it fill up, I could only get it a little less than halfway full. Can somebody give some suggestions?
Another question:
Is it safe to put the pen back into the barrel without the metal sleeve? That way, naked sac would go into the pen barrel without the sleeve.
If anybody needs some pictures, I can gladly provide them .
