My initial thought was to return them, but I'll be keeping them for now since it turns out that I can't return them. Besides, I love the Grado sound, and these cans can surely deliver biggrin.gif

You can return them. I returned numerous headphones to amazon last year. No questions asked. Just click the button about not the same as description.

all right guys, sent a email to grado asking whether or not I could exchange my chromies for a brushed aluminum sr325is, here's there response to my email

 

Hi James

 the brushed Aluminum is no longer available.

The chrome is a most consistent as well as a more durable and expensive finish .

We have also determined that there is no difference in sound quality.

all right...didn't get the 325is' for $180...somebody else offered a higher price, WTH, hopefully it wasn't somebody on headfi who heard me blabbing..

I actually don't think the chrome bling version is all that bad.  It's grown on me since I first saw them, and I wouldn't mind owning a pair if I didn't already own the previous version.

kinda mad over all of this... :P either way, the craigslist seller was very uncourteous, we had arranged to meet at 3:00 and I waited until 3:40, and he finally returned my call stating the deal was off because another buyer had offered a higher price...

I had a pretty douche-bag member here sell some K701's out from under me after he offered them to me prior to putting them up in the FS section. I hate people sometimes...well...all the time actually.

well, my local dealer offered me $250 for a new pair of grado sr325is' (brushed aluminum) or $160 for a pair of 225i's, what ya guys think?

IMO...the 325's trump the 225's. To me they have a fuller, more involving sound. The 225's to me are thin. But some people also complain that the 325's are bright. I don't hear it...but I have a warm setup too so I don't know. Really good price on either.

you know it's a problem when your local dealer can recognize you walking around town or your voice on the telephone...

I had the 225i for a short time and decided that I preferred the 325is overall.  The 325is stayed and the 225i went on ebay.  I don't think the 325is is too bright at all.  I like the sparkle and clarity I get from these cans, so what might seem bright for some is perfect for me.  I was thinking about getting the Magnum upgrade for my 325is, but I really enjoy the sound as is, and I don't want to mess with it.  Besides, there's nothing good old fashioned EQ can't tweak.

I just got mine from the same Amazon store as the OP (Shorline) and as soon as I opened them I was REALLY confused. I didn't think about returning them at all, but I came on here and saw that they changed to chrome. I wasn't feeling the change at first, but it's really grown on me. They're flashy, but they also have the simple, no BS Grado look so it works; and if you thought Grados looked like something from a sci-fi movie from the 50s, these things really take it to the next level hehe. On top of all this, I'm one of the first owners of the new 325is chromes which is pretty cool L3000.gif

Dammit, I usually despise chrome, but the way they look on the 325's is REALLY starting to grow on me!

 

Hell, I may even be willing to swap out my brushed aluminum pair with someone if they are willing.

just got my 325is' chromies from amazon today, the chrome REALLY grows on you...and i agree, the clarity and sparkle is really attractive as well, no issues with shrillness here
