Over at some Chinese audio forum, there's been lots of talk regarding Graham Slee Solo clones. What they're saying that, even if you take the identical board, the identical parts and even identical solder, the DIY clone one will never sound as "good" as the real Solo.
That's what I don't understand. The same thing applies to fake custom IEMs: Chinese-made UE-10 or ES3 copies use identical BA drivers as the real deal, but "just sounds wrong". So probably the filters.
How can tuning be different if the parts are identical?
