For Sale or Trade:
IC: Beyerdynamic DT990 (sans drivers)

Will Ship To: Conus

I have a spare DT990 shell (with case) I'm considering selling. I had to remove the drivers as they developed a rattle shortly after I bought them. I planned on making some Frankenbeyers but it's been sitting in my closet for the last 6 months so I figured someone else may have a use for it. I'll try and get some pictures up when I get back in a couple of hours. Thanks for the interest!

The velour pads are in like new condition. I've replaced several of the plastic pieces and the foam so they are brand new. The headband pad is also brand new. They do seem to be missing one of the adjustment pieces for the headphone to slide but it may turn back up when I look for it.

edit: Found the other adjustment piece!

You know you can get new drivers from Beyer? Not too expensive either...

Thanks! Yeah I thought about it but the DT990 sound isn't what I'm after and I don't want to spend money on drivers as I'll end up taking a bigger loss. I might do that though and Noxter mod it if it doesn't sell.

PM sent.

That is great to hear. For future reference, how does one go about doing this? Also, is it at all easy to get inside a pair of Beyer's to perform the 'surgery'?

***Oops! I should have PM'd the above to apatN. Very sorry! It is late and I forgot that this was a FS thread. redface.gif

I've sent you a PM with the details to avoid a discussion. I do think this may be relevant to those interested in this listing so I'll answer the question quickly. (If the mods disagree please remove this post).

In short they are pretty easy to open. All you have to do is pull off the pads and remove the plastic ring holding the driver baffle and you have full access to mod to your heart's content.

Still available?

Assuming the OP knows that many beyers "rattle" from just having a hair in the driver. Lol.

They're still available but I have to get some sleep now so I can get up early tomorrow. I'll respond to pms in the morning. Thanks!

Yep. I attempted to fix it but I couldn't remove all the hairs from the diaphragm so I couldn't completely remove the rattle. frown.gif
