Bite the bullet and orders a Lyr for my HD650. Arrives later this week. Fingers crossed that it will be a good fit!

vinnievidi, how do you like the Lyr with HD650? Which tubes did you get?

Will this amp pair with my ATH-M50s?

Thanks!

It pairs/sounds good with virtually all headphones IMO, except IEMs.

You may experience some noise floor with efficient closed cans like the M50s but I have not found that bothersome on my Denon D7000s and it can also be lessoned depending on the valves (tubes).

How does the Lyr do with spoken word audio? I listen to a lot of podcasts and books on tape, would it be worth using the Lyr for that or not make sense?

Well, what IEM's are you using? With my Etymotic 4S's it drives them fantastically well... as it does with my Beyer 880 / 600 ohm cans.

And, if you are hearing a raised noise floor, you might have some noisy tubes.

I don't any negatives about this amp... it's a must have!

How is the bass punch and extension (for electronic music) with the Lyr and HE-500?

Has anyone upgraded from an M Stage to the Lyr?  Or done a direct comparison?  If so how did that stack up?
